Book Review
Hacking Darwin (by Jamie Metzl)
|
- The strengths of Metzl’s work are the extensive research into biotechnology that animates it and the exploration of political, social, and economic problems the genetics revolution will present. I think the argument for genetic modification as prevention of terrible diseases is also very strong. But I’m not yet bought into the argument for a “positive” genetic enhancement. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a superhuman — just that the process of creating one can never be equitable to the many who won’t become one.
- This is a really important topic and I’m planning to write an article about it.
